WhatsApp is now Planning a new feature named as WhatsApp Self-destructing photos that will help you to keep your privacy strong by allowing you to send photos that will automatically delete after the recipient has seen them. With this update, if you send photos to someone but don’t want him/her to keep it in his/her gallery then you can use this feature.
WhatsApp is the top chatting app in the world. It is used by billions of people around the world. People also love to send photos and videos to their loved ones. Nowadays WhatsApp is regularly giving new features and updates to its users.
This new tool was recently discovered by WABetaInfo, which specializes in tearing down WhatsApp beta releases to discover unreleased features. This new feature is not available for testing so far even beta users can’t use it. But assets found in the app’s install files suggest that it is well on the way.
The new feature is very similar to WhatsApp’s Self-destructing messages. This feature allows you to send a message that will be deleted automatically after a certain time. You can set time of an hour, a day, a week, for a month, or a year.
This new feature is slightly different from the Self-destructing messages feature. In this feature pictures and videos will automatically be deleted after the recipient viewed rather than after a set duration. This means that it will also delete from the recipient gallery. He/She can’t open or view it in the future.
Burn After Reading
The new self-destructing photos will look different from the usual media in WhatsApp chats. It will appear with an icon that shows that they will be erased after viewing. However, it is expected to be changed before the feature is released.
You can’t use or test this Expiring Media for yourself. If you want to try it first, then you will need to join the WhatsApp’s beta program.
Unfortunately, the beta program for Apple devices is already full. It is worth keeping an eye on the TestFlight page to see if space opens up.
If you want to join the Beta program for Android, then visit the WhatsApp Beta page on Google Play. Enter your details and start using it. If you already have the public version of WhatsApp on your phone, it will be updated to the beta version automatically within a few hours.
