What you need to get started

To install Beta 3 update, first of all, you will have to need a compatible Pixel device (Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, or Pixel 4 XL), and also a USB cable which will help you to connect with your computer.

Secondly, you will have to install the Android SDK on your machine with ADB and Fastboot command successfully working. You can check the tutorial here.

Now its time for the actual steps.

Download the proper files (Android 11 Beta 3)

First of all, you have to download the proper files for your device. You can grab the OTA images for your specific Pixel device here. You can also use the full factory images (here), it requires extra hoops like unlocking your bootloader. So to keep things simple, we will recommend sideloading the OTA. Prepare your Phone

Android 11

After installation of the file, you have to reboot your phone int Recovery Mode to apply the OTA.

Follow the steps below.

  1. First of all, you have to shut off your phone.
  2. Then, you have to hold down Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time.
  3. The bootloader menu will show on the screen. You can use volume buttons to scroll down to Recovery Mode.
  4. Now, select Recovery Mode by clicking the power button.
  5. Android robot with an exclamation mark on it will be presented on the screen. Now press the power button and volume up button for about a second.
  6. When you release the volume up button it will send you fully into recovery.
  7. Now, use the volume button and scroll down to “Apply Update From ABD”. Press the power button to select the option.
  8. At last, a blank screen will show up telling you how to sideload an OTA.

Prepare your PC

After doing all the steps mentioned above now your phone is ready. Now, its time to make your PC ready.

  1. First of all, you have to connect your handset to your PC through USB cable. ADB Tool should be installed on your PC.
  2. If you are using Windows, open Command Prompt. On Linux or Mac, you’ll want to use Terminal. If you are a Windows user make sure you navigate to wherever you are storing the folder.
  3. Now, you have to enter ADB sideload for Windows, or ./adb sideload for Mac/Linux.
  4. Now enter the name of the .zip folder. Hit Enter.
  5. Once the above steps are completed, your phone will now return to Recovery Mode and you can now remove the USB cable.
  6. Lastly, go to Reboot Now with the volume keys and press the power button.

If you follow all the steps and everything went okay, you will now reboot into the Android 11 Beta.
